About United Nations International School (UNIS)

Under the auspices of the United Nations and guided by its ideals, UNIS provides an inclusive and diverse learning environment in which rigorous international programs foster academic excellence, innovation, creativity and cross-cultural communication to educate and inspire its students to become an active force in shaping a better world: peaceful, compassionate and sustainable. UNIS students currently come from 123 countries and speak 99 languages at home, and the faculty comes from 69 countries. The school teaches 8 languages besides English, and students begin French or Spanish when they start at UNIS (and they can also study Mandarin after school), and they add another language in the Middle School. UNIS was a founding school of the IB (International Baccalaureate), and the curriculum leads from prekindergarten to the IB program in the last two years of high school.
