Speyer School

At The Speyer Legacy School, students are inspired to be intellectually curious and passionate. Pedagogy at the Speyer Legacy School is designed to meet the needs of accelerated learners through an enriched curriculum that addresses the mind, body, and heart of each child. Speyer students are members of a school community that nurtures scholarship, integrity, and social and emotional development.

Students enter The Speyer Legacy School with a wide range of interests, strengths, challenges and perspectives. Speyer faculty, staff, and administrators fearlessly inspire and support the development of critical thinking skills, and they instill in each student an enduring love of learning. The Studio School

The Studio School educates the hearts and minds of children as we nurture the unfolding of their authentic spirit and character. Our students learn to value intellectual and creative ideas, taking pleasure in the process of discovery. We seek a deep and lasting academic excellence, one that is achieved when children are motivated to embrace for themselves the journey of learning.

The Studio School Approach™ blends the understanding of child development with a working knowledge of how children learn, a student-teacher relationship that is emotionally connective, and a curriculum that is specifically designed to enhance a child’s innate intelligence and creativity.

Our Approach is from the inside out, empowering students to integrate who they are with what they learn. The relationships and experiences our students take part in every day at school, impact their lives not only while at Studio, but forever.

The Town School

The Town School is a diverse (close to 40% of our students self-identify as students of color) coed school that starts with one class each of Nursery 3 and Nursery 4, but then, starting in Kindergarten, goes to a model of two classes per grade.  Class size from Kindergarten through 8th grade is between 16-20 students.  There are three teachers (two co-Head Teachers and one Assistant Teacher) in our Nursery 3, Nursery 4 and Kindergarten classes, then two co-Head Teachers per class from Grades 1-4 (our Lower School). We have specialists in Kindergarten - Grade 4, including art, music, dance, science, technology, and physical education.
Our Upper School (Grades 5-8) is departmentalized.  Students in Grades 1-3 learn Spanish and in Grade 4 they take half a year of Spanish and half a year of French, so that they can decide which language they would like to pursue in Upper School.  Students in Grades 7 and 8 also take Latin.  Grade 8 students work with our Placement Director to assist them in the admissions process for their next school.  Students are well-prepared to attend outstanding independent schools, boarding schools, and public schools for high school.

The Town School has a beautiful state-of-the-art library, overlooking the East River, has over 18,000 books, as well as on-line resources.  In keeping with our motto of Self, Others, Surroundings, our students participate in service activities throughout their time at Town.  Through our active Parents Association, Town parents are also engaged in our school.

Tuition includes lunch from Grades 1-8, as well as all books.  Our financial aid program is generous, with assistance also available for our after school program and for our summer camp.
