The Brearley School

Brearley was founded in 1884 by a group of families who wanted to establish a school that offered as rigorous an education as that available to their sons--a radical notion back then and still pertinent in 2022. For 138 years, we have believed in the power of girls' intellect.

With a three building campus on the Upper East Side adjacent to the East River,  Brearley offers a liberal arts education that teaches students to think critically and independently. In addition to our stellar academic program, we offer very strong programs in the Arts, music, and athletics. Brearley is a school where joy and rigor are not mutually exclusive.

For the past 132 years, The Browning School has been committed to providing boys in Kindergarten through Grade 12 the skills, the awareness, and the courage to navigate the complex developmental moments that will come to define them as men. Our faculty promote a love of learning and nurture the growth of each student through a vigorous academic program and exposure to a broad range of challenges and opportunities. In our uncommonly warm, inviting, and intimate school on East 62nd Street, Browning students become inquisitive and thoughtful scholars, as well as empathic and ethical leaders and citizens who reflect a diverse range of backgrounds, talents, and interests.

The Buckley School

As a K-9 independent boys school in New York City, we recognize and appreciate the great responsibility we have in shaping the lives of tomorrow's leaders. With a tradition of excellence dating back over 100 years, we are fortunate to offer our students and families an environment where doing your best becomes the only way of doing things at all.

As proud as we are of this tradition, however, we are educators with a growth mindset, always striving to do the very best for our boys. Our teachers are innovators in the classroom and mentors in the hallway, our coaches are bastions of sportsmanship and proponents of healthy living, and our leaders are constantly looking forward, not resting on any past success. At Buckley, we aren't focused on the achievement of excellence; we are focused on the pursuit of it.

We are proud of our mission, particularly our focus on every boy. Yes, every boy will learn the fundamental skills and the academic habits needed for success in secondary school, but more important to us, every boy will also learn how to be a young man of sterling character, a young man who respects others and who puts his community before himself.
