Brooklyn Heights Montessori School

Founded in 1965, Brooklyn Heights Montessori School is jointly accredited by New York State Association of Independent Schools and American Montessori Society. The four guiding principles are Montessori, Educational Excellence, Diversity, and Community.

Montessori is a worldwide proven educational philosophy that supports every child’s exploration and self-discovery, encouraging students to be active rather than passive learners.

Firmly grounded in the Montessori method and best educational practices, our rigorous academic approach asks students not just to find the answers, but to think critically and independently. The core curriculum of math, language arts, culture (science, history, geography), Spanish, visual and performing arts, and athletics is highly integrated, and experiential. Lessons are intriguing, diverse, and designed to keep kids interested and engaged. We teach kids to think in connections as learning things in context makes sense for students. All in all, our programs are designed to prepare students with the creativity, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills essential for success in our complex and rapidly changing world.
