About PS 008 The Emily Warren Roebling School

Elementary School

The Emily Warren Roebling School (formerly known as Robert Fulton) is a community school serving 600+ children in historic Brooklyn Heights. Our community is rich in history; just steps from our school building you may walk an original Lenape path, see Dutch colonial homes, tour a site of the underground railroad and explore Brooklyn's beautiful waterfront. This rich history is the foundation for our social studies curriculum.

Student agency and voice is at the heart of our work, and provides entry into our equity work as we continue to foster culturally responsive classrooms. Children and their families partner directly with school staff to shape teaching and learning in a variety of ways including Student Council, Student Advisory Board, School Leadership Team, Equity & Diversity Committee, School Wellness Committee, Garden Committee, Parent Teacher Association and tri-annual Family Administration meetings.

We pride ourselves on knowing every child well and have learned that the arts and physical education are important to our primary stakeholders, the children. In addition to our robust on-site specialty team including a visual art teacher, music teacher, science teacher,  and two physical education and technology teachers we partner with many phenomenal arts organizations throughout the year. Historically we’ve partnered with Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Learning Through Art with the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Marquis Studios which provides Bollywood Dance and Circus Arts residencies, National Dance Institute and the New York City Ballet.
